Kabilio, the Barcelona start-up behind AI bookkeeping software for accountancy practices, has raised €10m from Picus Capital and Visionaries a year after a €4m pre-seed. Its client base has grown from about 100 firms to more than 500, the company says. The agent the money is meant to pay for is still in beta.

Kabilio, a Barcelona company that sells AI software to accounting firms and their small-business clients, has raised €10m in a round led by Picus Capital and Visionaries, Tech Funding News reported on Thursday. CDTI, Spain's state agency for technological innovation, also took part. Kabilio did not disclose a valuation.

The deal comes almost exactly a year after Kabilio's €4m pre-seed in November 2025. Visionaries Club and Picus Capital led that round too, and the public lender ENISA added €200,000. Cinco Días called it one of the largest pre-seed rounds recorded in Spain. Co-founder and co-CEO Jose Ojeda told Tech Funding News that the company did not run a fundraising process this time: "We didn't even go to market. We didn't go raise money. They approached us, seeing the growth and how happy our customers were, and they made an offer."

What the money buys

Kabilio says the new capital will go to two products. The first is an AI accounting agent that goes into beta this month. The second is Kabilio Empresas, a platform that connects small businesses with their accountants. Kabilio says firms will be able to give the agent the kind of tasks they would give a new junior employee: pulling invoices out of client emails, reconciling bank statements, checking entries and chasing missing paperwork. It can also talk to clients by email and WhatsApp. Ojeda acknowledged that the agent is not yet commercial and that several firms are still testing it.

The existing product handles "pre-accounting". It reads invoices, suggests how to book them, matches bank transactions and flags anything that needs a human to look at it. Kabilio claims this cuts bookkeeping and reconciliation time by about 60%. Nobody has verified that number independently. Named customers include Adlanter, Solfico and Gemap.

The numbers behind the pitch

The numbers that matter are customers and headcount. Kabilio says it served about 100 accounting firms in November 2025 and now serves just over 500. At the time of the pre-seed it told elEconomista it was adding about 30 clients a month and employed 35 people. It now says it has more than 80 staff, mostly in tech and product. It has not published any revenue figures.

The round also arrives earlier than planned. A year ago Ojeda told elEconomista that the next raise was pencilled in for 2027–2028, and that the company would concentrate on Spain before looking at other countries. Its software is built around Spanish state tax rules, including the Verifactu e-invoicing regime, with the Canary Islands and the Basque Country excluded.

Why it matters

Accounting is turning into one of Europe's most crowded markets for applied AI. Kabilio's bet is that the way in is the local adviser: Spain has many small gestorías and asesorías that still do much of their work by hand. Tech Funding News named the risks. One is whether Spanish accountants will trust an agent with client work. The other is whether Kabilio can keep up with rivals such as Basis, which are raising far larger rounds. A regulation-specific product protects Kabilio at home, but it will also make expansion abroad expensive. Investors now have to decide whether the 500-firm base turns into revenue before better-funded competitors start localising for Spain.
