After order picking, there are often still a number of manual activities to be carried out. Orders need to be divided among boxes or pallets, labels need to be printed, and when it comes to loading, you have to hope that everything actually makes it onto the truck. That is why we have now expanded our CaptureTech Connect warehouse software with two additional features: Packing and Loading.

Packing: Know Exactly What Is in Each Box or Pallet

With the new Packing module, you can pack goods into outbound transport units (TUs), such as boxes or pallets. You can divide an order across multiple TUs or combine several order lines into a single TU. This allows you to record the exact contents, so you always know which product is in which TU.

What you can do with it:

  • Build TUs: Distribute order lines across multiple boxes or pallets.
  • Record the contents of each TU: Useful for traceability and reducing the time spent searching for information in the event of questions or returns.
  • Record dimensions and weight: Useful for transportation purposes and internal checks.
  • Print shipping labels: Optionally, you can also print a packing slip for each TU showing the correct contents.
  • Work with a clear contents list for each TU: Similar to a BOM (Bill of Materials), providing a single overview of everything contained in that specific TU.

This reduces the need for individual interpretation at the packing station, minimizes errors, and provides clarity for everyone involved in handling the shipment.

Loading: Verification During Loading

Once everything has been packed and is ready for shipment, you want to make sure it is loaded onto the correct truck and handed over to the correct carrier. With Loading, your employees can scan the TUs as they are loaded.

Here is how it works:

  • TUs are prepared in the shipping area.
  • The operator scans each TU during loading.
  • Connect confirms what has been loaded and immediately alerts the operator if something is missing or has been scanned twice.

This helps keep the process under control during peak periods and prevents disputes afterwards, as you can always verify exactly what was or was not included in the shipment.

Why This Matters

With Packing and Loading, you can make the final stage of your warehouse process measurable and manageable. You benefit from:

  • Greater control over shipping quality: Correct contents, correct labels, and correct shipments.
  • Lower failure costs: Fewer missing or incorrectly loaded packages.
  • Faster operations: Both at the packing station and the loading dock, as the process guides employees step by step.
  • Improved delivery reliability: Without additional administrative work.

CaptureTech Connect already helps you work paperlessly and digitalize processes such as receiving, internal movements, order picking, and inventory management. With this expansion, we are extending that digital workflow all the way through to packing and loading.
